Dental Check-Ups in Worthing

Regular dental check-ups are the best way to stay on top of your oral health. At Worthing Dental Practice, we recommend visiting us every six to twelve months so we can catch any problems early - before they become painful or expensive to treat. We are currently accepting new registrations.

What Happens During a Check-Up

Your check-up begins with a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and the soft tissues of your mouth. We check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. If needed, we may take digital x-rays to see what is happening beneath the surface - these use very low doses of radiation and give us a detailed picture of your dental health. After the examination, your dentist will discuss any findings with you, explain your options clearly, and work with you on a treatment plan if anything needs attention. There is never any pressure to commit to treatment on the day.

Your First Visit as a New Patient

If this is your first visit to Worthing Dental Practice, we will spend a little extra time getting to know you. We will ask about your dental history, any concerns you might have, and whether you experience any anxiety about dental visits - there is absolutely no judgement here. Your first examination may be slightly longer than a routine check-up so we can build a complete picture of your oral health. We want you to feel comfortable and informed from the very start.

How Often Should You Visit

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends dental check-ups at intervals between 3 and 24 months, depending on your individual risk factors. For most adults, we recommend every six to twelve months. Your dentist will advise you on the right interval based on your oral health. Children and patients with gum disease or other risk factors may need to visit more frequently.

NHS and Private Check-Ups

We offer both NHS and private dental check-ups. An NHS check-up falls under Band 1 and includes an examination, diagnosis, and advice - including x-rays if clinically necessary. Private check-ups may include additional time and services. Visit our pricing page for current fees. If you are unsure whether NHS or private is right for you, we are happy to discuss your options when you contact us.
