Emergency Dentist in Worthing

A dental emergency is any situation that requires immediate attention to relieve severe pain, stop bleeding, or save a tooth. Common dental emergencies include: severe toothache that does not respond to painkillers, a knocked-out (avulsed) tooth, a broken or cracked tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling in the face or gums, an abscess or infection, bleeding that will not stop, and trauma to the mouth or jaw. If you are unsure whether your situation is an emergency, call us and we will advise you.

For a knocked-out tooth: pick it up by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket. If you cannot reinsert it, store it in milk and come to us immediately - the sooner we see you, the better the chance of saving the tooth. For severe toothache: take over-the-counter painkillers, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek, and avoid very hot or cold food and drink. For a broken tooth: save any pieces, rinse your mouth gently, and contact us straight away.

For life-threatening situations involving difficulty breathing or severe uncontrolled bleeding, go directly to A&E or call 999.

Emergency dental treatment on the NHS is charged at the current Band 1 rate, which covers examination, diagnosis, and urgent treatment to relieve pain. Private emergency appointments may incur different fees. We will always discuss costs with you before carrying out any treatment.
